Its that time of year again, we are catching a lot of bats in living rooms. They are on the move and are getting into all kinds of places where people don’t want them. This is mostly due to the fact that the juvenile bats are getting bigger and mobile and are going exploring, but instead of going exploring outside of your house, they are exploring inside your house.Bats can fit through any hole larger than 3/8″, this could be crack around an electrical box, or if your attic hatch isn’t closed properly; there are tons of ways for your to get bats in your living rooms. Remember, most likely if you have bats in your living rooms then you also have a colony of bats living somewhere inside your house. Bats in your living room are not something to play with, bats can carry rabies which is an extremely fatal disease.
Do not release or destroy the bat if it has bitten you, if you have woken up to a bat in your room, if a bat is found in the room of an unattended child, or if a bat is found in the same room as a mentally impaired or drunk individual. If you happen to have bats in living rooms please do not run out of the house screaming, it is easier to find the bat if we know where in your house to look. Bats are very small animals and can fit into very tiny places, the best thing to do is to try and contain the bat to one room preferably not the living room, it is hard to find bats in living rooms.
